Bidding in an English auction

In English auctions, participants can submit their bids from a starting price and according to a set of rules for each item.

Depending on the organizing company, there may be security features available to prevent any mistakes, accidental or erroneous bids:
  • There are two bid fields next to each item and you need to enter your bid twice for each of them.
  • If the bid you are about to submit is 10% or more off from your previous bid, a pop-up window will warn you of the difference and ask you to confirm the bid again. These bids can of course be submitted after this confirmation.

If the system does not accept the bid (i.e. the bid does not match the auction rules), a warning will appear next to the bid fields indicating the validation rule your bid did not comply with (e.g. "Invalid bid: You must outbid your current bid.")

As Fluenta Auction is an online platform, network fluctuations are also possible on the participant side. Therefore, it is not advisable to leave the bidding to the last seconds, as the bidding process takes time and the bid may be delayed. It is worth looking at the timing settings on the overview page (e.g.: the extension is based on the last how many minutes of the auction's original length and is triggered when either a valid or a rank-changing bid is received).

It is recommended that you do not leave bid submission to the last seconds, because the bid validation process takes time, so the bid may be received after the deadline, and the system will not record it as a valid bid.

If you have submitted an incorrect bid on an item, we recommend that you contact the organizer immediately; only the organizer has the option to cancel the participant bid (bid deletion is audited). If the organizer does not respond, it is advisable to contact Fluenta Customer Service for assistance in informing the organizer.

The organizer may exclude from the auction any participant they deem to in any way obstruct the valid and orderly conduct of the auction.

The organizer has the option to suspend the auction, e.g. in case of technical problems. In such cases, bidding is temporarily unavailable. In the case of a suspension, it is advisable to monitor the bidding platform and contact the organizer to discuss when the auction will resume.

In case of bid value option items, you do not have to bid in the usual way. Instead, you have to select the commitment or offer from the drop-down list set up by the organizer (the text value set has already been assigned to a monetary value by the organizer). The bid on the bid value option item cannot be changed later, but it will be counted in the total.
